Advance 3 | Visions in the Night

God is continually speaking to us and sharing His heart although we may be unaware.

We can all say that we have experienced dreams within the night, although we may not always remember what we have dreamt God is continually speaking to us even while we are asleep. This week Sarah Jackson taught on visions in the night and brought us on a journey of uncovering the symbolism seen within our own dreams and others as well. Dreams have always been a topic I find myself drawn to, I have been wanting to expand my understanding on how to discern what God is wanting to reveal through our dreams. Therefore this past week was filled with unexpected realizations and launched for me a new journey of watchfulness.

"He is wanting to communicate to us even while we may be unaware of it."

The creativity of our Father goes beyond our own understanding. Given that God is continually speaking to us represents the very heart of our Father. He is wanting to communicate to us even while we may be unaware of it.  Often we hear people state that God is “jealous” for our time. The word jealous can be seen as a negative connotation however, if God desires to speak to us even while we are asleep how much more does He want to share with us as we are awake? I received the revelation this week on the importance of responding to the continues whispers of His voice throughout our day and even while we are asleep. God is open to using symbols and or images as a way of revealing to us  new revelations. For example, although our dreams may not necessarily be simple to grasp and or understand God is wanting us to seek after His heart to discover the answers to our questions.

"The search for wisdom produces in us greater faith as we begin to become dependent on what He has to say rather than settling for what is handed to us."

Jesus often would teach using parables as a means of communicating to those He spoke to. He desired for people to seek after the answer, to search for wisdom rather than simply receiving the answer in our laps. As we search for wisdom, as we seek after His heart for the answers His promise to us is that we will find Him and receive what we ask for, "ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened" (NIV Matthew 7:7-8). The search for wisdom produces in us greater faith as we begin to become dependent on what He has to say rather than settling for what is handed to us. Holy Spirit has been challenging me to search after His heart first for the answers to every question I have on my heart. It moves His heart when we become like little children who daily ask our Father for questions in complete dependence and trust on His response to us.

"We are to put our complete trust and dependence on what Holy Spirit reveals to us as we seek after Him for answers."

If we are to seek after His heart in order to discover the hidden treasures He is wanting to reveal to us then practically we are to write down our dreams  and record what we have received. We are to live depend on Holy Spirit and listen to what He is revealing to us. It is not our responsibility to interpret on our own the symbolism within our dreams. However, we can learn and receive a basic understanding on what certain images may represent, just as we were taught this week. We are to put our complete trust and dependence on what Holy Spirit reveals to us as we seek after Him for answers.

Just as I have been challenged to live seeking daily after Him for the questions I have on my heart, why not ask Holy Spirit to help you live dependent on His voice so that you may continually seek after Him first not only for your dreams but throughout your day as well.
