About a year ago, I started praying for revival. I was at a bible school in Dallas, Texas and God gripped my heart for something beyond myself. For hours every week I would kneel, pace, weep, and stand in prayer for people, cities, and nations. Many fleshly desires were sacrificed as fasting became a lifestyle and not just an idea. I’m telling you this because I want you to understand the price that I paid to be involved in the next big move of God.
Revival isn’t free, it’ll cost you everything.
In order to understand the significance of the Azusa Now event, we need to understand the significance of April 9th and other events that have happened on this day. History matters not only in the moment when it happens but also for all the moments that are about to happen. In 1865, the last major surrender which virtually ended the American Civil War. In 1906, the greatest revival in the history of America began at 216 Bonnie Brae Street in California, known as the Azusa street revival. In 1945, Deitrich Bonhoeffer was martyred in Nazi Germany. April 9, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was buried. These three events share a historical significance as moments of renewal, revival and redemption.
God couldn’t have been more clear that he wanted Lou Engle to put on this massive event on April 9th. Lou and “TheCall” sought to set aside 15 hours on April 9th 2016, exactly 110 years after one of the most significant moves of God in modern times; the Azusa Street Revival of 1906, to unite and declare that a Jesus Movement is coming!
Knowing all the prophetic significance and my strong hunger for revival, I booked a flight ticket and made my way to the West Coast for Azusa Now, coming off the longest fast of my life. While I was there, I took my glasses off to clean them and noticed there was virtually no difference off as there was on, probably due to the heavy presence of God. Baffled, I turned to my friend and he said the same thing happened to him. The Lord immediately informed me it was a sign. A few hours later, my friend and I had the opportunity to pray for a woman that had come to Azusa Now 95% deaf. She could only hear muffled vibrations and was reading our lips to hear what we were saying. As my friend and I began praying for her, I whispered in her ear the words, “Repeat after me” and immediately she said, “Repeat after me” and started weeping! Soon after, we asked how she was and she said that it was so loud! She left Azusa Now 100% healed! Significantly, she was one of many that left that day healed.
Signs and wonders were happening all over the place as the heavens opened.
We all knew America and the world was never going to be the same. The next day, I shared a photo on Facebook with the lady who was healed, telling my friends Jesus still heals. It went viral. It has since gotten over 1500 shares and hundreds of people from all over the world have messaged my friend and I, asking for spiritual guidance and healing. In the first week after the post, we saw at least 3 people come to know Jesus for the first time, 2 people get healed, and a few rededicate their lives to God! This is revival!
I believe this next move of the spirit will not be like the others. This time, the revival is truly within individuals, but not every individual, just the ones that answer the call. What is God calling us into? He’s calling us into a deeper level of prayer, fasting, unity, and consecration. He wants us to partner with Him, His children, in the greater purpose, what we call the Great Commission. It is the year of Joel 2; we must call a fast, gather the young and old, weep between the porch and the altar, and sanctify the congregation. And what is the reward? He will pour out His Spirit on all flesh.
Don’t be deceived, revival is not cheap. It will cost you everything.
What price are you willing to pay?
