The voice of our Father can move and impact the choices and steps we chose to take, to live in relationship with God primarily begins with knowing His voice. Personally I was blessed with learning how to hear God’s voice as a twelve year old attending a Bible camp. As a young child I had grasped the concept of listening to God speak, however my relationship with God consisted of attending church on Sunday and I would simply listen to my Sunday school teacher share the given message. The church I attended did not speak on living in relationship with God yet, as a child I was compelled to speak to Him. Often I would find myself praying and or speaking to God on a regular basis however I did not know how to truly hear His voice.
"I realized that as I write I am able to flow with Holy Spirit and listen to what God is wanting to reveal to my heart."
As I grew in love with God I began to become more aware and familiar with His voice. I was drawn to journalling and I would write several pages to Him while pouring out my heart. Therefore, this weeks teaching given by Mark Virkler consisted of expanding my understanding and receiving new revelation on what it means to live with an inclined ear to His heart. As a writer, journalling is what I enjoy to do when communicating with God. It even brings greater insight and understanding into certain questions and or situations. I realized that as I write I am able to flow with Holy Spirit and listen to what God is wanting to reveal to my heart, clearer than if I were to simply speak to Him within my mind.
"Journalling has allowed me to learn how to be real with God in expressing my thoughts to Him."
During the first week of school God began to take me on a journey of re-opening my heart to Him. Journalling has allowed me to learn how to ask God the tough questions while Holy Spirit began to tug on my heart to live with a willing heart. Journalling has allowed me to learn how to be real with God in expressing my thoughts to Him. We were given time within each lesson to journal and then listen to what God wanted to share with us. His voice is what we are to cling to, I was in awe of His kindness and words of affirmation which bring life. Mark Virkler had suggested for students to share what God had spoken to them, and so students lined up in the front to share. While I was listening to what each student had to share I was continually encouraged by what I was hearing.
While learning how to hear His voice it amazes me how personal God is with each individual. He truly knows our hearts and what we uniquely need to hear. Through His grace we are able to hear His voice and listen to His heartbeat, God speaks to our hearts directly we therefore simply need to do open to what He has to share.
