The House of Prayer Movement

Something is stirring

“In every place incense shall be offered to My name, and a pure offering; For My name

shall be great among the nations, “Says the Lord of hosts.” (Mal. 1:11)

Something has begun and it’s never going back to the way it was and it’s
not stopping until His return; it’s what the Spirit is doing in the nations and we must pay attention.

Houses of Prayer and Worship Centers are springing up all over the earth. You’ve probably either heard of one or are a part of one in your city. Just to think around 15 years ago no one had even heard of a house of prayer and most congregations didn’t know to combine worship and prayer together. Take Canada for example, in the last 10 years over 50 houses of prayer have been started and the number is only increasing. But what exactly is a House of Prayer? And why do we need night and day prayer?  These are common questions asked by Christians and non-believers alike and we must be able to answer them. Something has begun and it’s never going back to the way it was and it’s not stopping until His return; it’s what the Spirit is doing in the nations and we must pay attention.

What Is A House Of Prayer?

The body of Christ is His house and He is calling
her back to the place of prayer and intimacy with Him before His return.

Well to answer our first question quite straight forward... you are. It’s not a new cool fad, it’s not merely a ministry that calls themselves a HOP (house of prayer) and it doesn’t have to be one ministry overseeing 24 hours a week. You in and of yourself cry out Abba, Father by the Holy Spirit and you partner with His heart in prayer. You were made to abide in Him; talk with Him. The body of Christ is His house and He is calling her back to the place of prayer and intimacy with Him before His return.

The body of Christ is hearing the call to prayer and worship like never before and
a desire to make His name great is arising throughout the nations of the earth.

“He is raising up worship centers all over the earth. God is going to change the expression and understanding of Christianity in one generation! Intercession is going to move from the back to the front. Because God governs through intercession.”-Mike Bickle (Founder of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Mo.)

The body of Christ is hearing the call to prayer and worship like never before and a desire to make His name great is arising throughout the nations of the earth. It’s the Holy Spirit who is orchestrating this global end-time worship movement. I’ve heard story after story of people having encounters with Jesus regarding Him building His house of prayer. In which He comes to them and speaks about having prayer and worship meetings on a weekly basis in their home or church, or to put the singers and musicians in place and that He is rebuilding the tabernacle of David (Amos 9:11), etc. In Revelation 4 and 5 we see the Throne Room and that there is unceasing worship surrounding Him who sits on the Throne. We see there are real golden bowls being filled with tangible incense, which are the prayers of the saints. You are seen and heard before heaven; you are a part of a much bigger story than you know.

The highest identity of the redeemed throughout all eternity is to walk as a house of prayer in “intimacy based-intercession.”  Intercession (prayer) is simply telling God what He tells you to tell Him!

When you love someone you want to spend time with them and know what’s on their heart, what they care about and how you can partner with them in it. Even Jesus makes this statement about how He sees us, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”(Is.56:7) He is saying that He will have a company of people from every tribe and nation fully agreeing with His leadership and authority over them. Those who will stand, burn with passion and minister before Him like in the days of old, not loving their lives but laying them down and walking in their true identity.

What is the necessity of night and day prayer and worship?

In the Bible night and day prayer is seen throughout Genesis in the Garden of Eden to Revelation and the end of natural history; ending in a prayer movement and a conflict between two worship movements. All of heaven offers unceasing worship and praise to the Lamb who was slain, therefore how much more should God’s greatest creation worship Him day and night? (Rev. 4:8) We were made for this! This is why God identifies His people as a house of prayer. Partnering with God’s heart night and day is not only necessary but He is worthy of being worshipped on earth as it is in Heaven. Justice is released in connection to night and day prayer. “On earth as it is in Heaven.” Worship and prayer are eternal realities that will go on long after evangelism, healing and missions, etc. Luke 18:1&7- This is not a kind suggestion from Jesus to pray, we must pray because God waits until He hears the cries of His people in intercession and only then is justice released in connection to night and day prayer!

“Keep watch and pray, so that you will not fall into temptation.” (Matt 26:41)In a generation with so many distractions and temptations around us, we have the privilege of saying no to them and walking in our identity! Jesus connects the concept of abiding in Him and bearing fruit with the ministry of intercession (Jn.15:7).

Worship: An Eternal Reality

Worship enthrones God (Ps. 22:3). Worship breaks open the atmosphere and shines the light of Christ in dark places. Worship is any expression of love to Him yes, but just for a moment let’s take a look at worship in the nations as singers and musicians prophetically declaring the things that are in His heart. All over the world right now there is a song going forth. There is a search for someone that can release a sound that causes a shift. Not just merely being able to sing songs and lead worship, but singing the very heart of God skillfully.

David, as King of Israel, set up night and day prayer in Jerusalem and fully funded 4000 musicians and 288 singers. He made a vow to dedicate his life to find a resting place and dwelling place for God. This refers to a place where an unusual measure of God’s presence is manifest on the earth. David’s life work was to establish a dwelling place for God in his generation. This vow is at the heart of the end-time revival and prayer movement and many dedicated believers throughout history have embraced this vow. “LORD, remember David and all his afflictions; How he...vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: “Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go up to the comfort of my bed; I will not give sleep to my eyes...Until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”(Ps 132:1–5)
imagine what [it] must do to His heart when unfailingly and unceasingly, His people are coming together to worship and talk with Him about what’s on His heart?
Have you ever thought about worship in that way, in the way that David did in Psalm 132? That there is a desire in the heart of God to have a resting place on the earth; yes in you, through the Holy Spirit dwelling on the inside, but a resting place in a region or country because worship is arising night and day before Him? “The LORD's eyes keep on roaming throughout the earth, looking for those whose hearts completely belong to him, so that he may strongly support them.” (2 Chron. 16:9) Have you ever thought about the fact that when songs aren’t arising in an area of the earth He notices? Have you thought about how deeply we move the heart of God with just one glance of your eyes (Song of Songs 4:9)? Now multiply that corporately and imagine what that must do to His heart when unfailingly and unceasingly His people are coming together to worship and talk with Him about what’s on His heart?

The goal is not prayer- the goal is God, prayer is the means.

Here’s your job description, “Look at Me”. You were made to gaze upon Beauty! House of Prayer is a corporate expression of us coming together for long and loving meditation of Jesus, exalting Him, extoling Him, singing His Word and getting acquainted with the One we love! It’s coming together to choose the better part and make a statement to our generation that He is more fascinating and captivating than anything the world could ever offer. “There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:42)

The vision of 24/7 worship is already here, it’s never going back, only moving forward. There is not one verse that says do not worship night and day and not one place where the saints have to limit their extravagant adoration. Therefore let us live lives of unceasing prayer and worship, speaking God’s heart back to Him and truly stepping into our identity as the house of prayer.

CTF House of Prayer: Who we are and when we meet.

Catch The Fire HOP has been running for 3 years under the leadership of Patricia Bootsma, who also ran the house of prayer in Stratford, Ontario for 8 years.
